The past few weeks have delivered one of the fastest stretches of AI model releases on record — a reminder that the global AI race is accelerating, not slowing down. For founders building AI products, that pace of change makes one decision more important, not less: where you base the company that has to keep up with it. Increasingly, the answer founders are landing on is the UAE — and the reasons go well beyond tax headlines.
The pace of the last few weeks illustrates just how fast frontier AI is moving. Within days of each other in early September, several major labs pushed out new flagship models, with one tracker logging five major model releases from four different providers inside a ten-day window. The direction of travel is consistent across releases: models are becoming more capable at multi-step, professional tasks — coding, research, and computer use — rather than simply generating better text.
At the same time, the industry's centre of gravity is visibly shifting toward agentic AI: systems that can complete workflows across software and devices, not just answer a single question. Physical AI is following close behind, with robotics and on-device AI hardware featured prominently at major consumer technology events in recent weeks.
Against that backdrop, the UAE isn't just watching the AI race from the sidelines — it's already the country with the highest working-age AI adoption rate in the world, at over 70% according to Microsoft's latest AI Diffusion Report, and it has committed to deploying agentic AI across half of all government services within two years. Dubai has also directed that GITEX Tech-cation 2026 — taking place 7–11 December at Dubai Expo City — become the world's largest event dedicated to AI and technology, positioning the emirate as a global gathering point for exactly the kind of releases happening globally right now.
One of the clearest global trends from these past few weeks is AI moving off the screen and into physical products — robotics, on-device AI hardware, and local processing that doesn't depend on a constant cloud connection. That shift matters for founders because it changes what “building an AI company” requires: increasingly, it means partnerships with hardware, robotics, and infrastructure players, not just a model API. A location with strong government backing for advanced technology and manufacturing-adjacent free zones becomes more relevant, not less, as this physical layer matures.
It's easy to assume that in a world of cloud-based AI models, company location is almost irrelevant. In practice, three things still make it matter a great deal:
The founders best positioned over the next few years won't just be the ones with the strongest model or product — they'll be the ones who built in a market that could keep pace with the technology itself. As the global AI race keeps accelerating, being based somewhere that's already adopting, training for, and investing in AI at national scale is a genuine head start, not just a nice-to-have.

The Rise of DePIN: Significant Developments and the AI-Powered Future The Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) ecosystem has emerged as one of the most transformative concepts in the blockchain and technology space. DePIN reimagines how physical infrastructure—such as wireless networks, energy grids, and data storage systems—is built, managed, and scaled by leveraging blockchain technology and token-based incentives. Over the past few years, the DePIN ecosystem has witnessed remarkable growth, driven by innovative projects, increasing adoption, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). As we stand in February 2025, it’s clear that DePIN is no longer a niche idea but a paradigm shift with the potential to disrupt traditional industries. In this blog, we’ll explore the most significant developments in the DePIN ecosystem and how AI agents are poised to supercharge this meta, unlocking unprecedented efficiency, scalability, and real-world impact.
